Store Price Match Policies 2026
Which of 64 major US retailers price match — and what their actual rules and exceptions are — researched and verified for each brand individually.
Price matching varies a lot by retailer: some match any competitor's price, some only match a short list of named competitors, some only match online prices from their own website, and plenty of stores don't price match at all anymore. We check the actual current policy for each brand rather than assuming a generic rule — find your store below.
7-Eleven doesn't have a formal price match policy — and because most US locations are independently owned franchises that can set their own prices, there isn't even a single consistent "7-Eleven price" to match in the first place.
Abercrombie & Fitch doesn't price match competitors, but it will adjust its own price drop — 14 days for online purchases, 7 days for in-store — on items originally bought at full price, same as sibling brand Hollister.
Ace Hardware will typically price match Home Depot, Lowe's, and other local brick-and-mortar competitors within about 15 miles — but since Ace is a cooperative of independently owned stores, each location decides its own exact policy.
Advance Auto Parts will match most competitors' prices — both local stores and competitor websites — which is notably broader than rival AutoZone's local-only, in-radius policy.
Aeropostale stores will match Aeropostale.com's own online price for an identical, in-stock item — not outside competitors — plus a separate 7-day price adjustment on purchases that later drop in price.
Albertsons does not offer competitor price matching — the program it once ran has been discontinued, and today its Albertsons for U loyalty membership is what it points shoppers to instead.
ALDI does not offer price matching in the US — its own position is that price matching is unnecessary because it already negotiates the lowest prices upfront.
ALDO doesn't match competitor prices, and online orders get no price adjustment at all — the only exception is a 7-day, in-store-only price adjustment on regular-priced items bought in a physical store.
Apple has no published price match policy, but it's an open secret that Apple Stores will informally match an authorized reseller's price — like Best Buy or B&H Photo — capped at 10% off MSRP, within two weeks of purchase.
AT&T does not price match phones, plans, or accessories against other carriers or retailers — there's no formal program to bring in a competitor's price or bill for a match.
AutoZone will price match local competitors like O'Reilly, Advance Auto Parts, and NAPA within roughly 20-25 miles of the store — but not online retailers like Amazon or RockAuto.
Avis's Best Rate Guarantee only matches a lower Avis rate found on another site — not a competitor like Budget, Enterprise, or Hertz — but if it qualifies, Avis matches the rate and adds an extra 10% off.
bareMinerals does not have a published price match or price adjustment policy — its "Match Guarantee" refers to finding your correct foundation shade, not matching a lower price.
Best Buy matches around 19 named competitors including Amazon, Walmart, and Costco — one of the most generous price match policies left in electronics retail, especially since Target dropped its own competitor matching in 2025. It's suspended, though, during the Thanksgiving-to-Cyber Monday blackout.
Big Lots' Price Promise matches an identical item's lower price at another local brick-and-mortar retailer within 7 days of purchase — though given the chain's post-bankruptcy ownership transition to Variety Wholesalers, it's worth confirming the policy is still honored at your specific store.
Buckle's official pricing policy focuses on keeping retail prices consistent across its own stores — it doesn't publish a formal competitor price match guarantee, though some stores will match a lower price found on Buckle.com at their own discretion.
Burlington doesn't offer a formal competitor price match — and its own "Comparable Value" tags are explicitly a buyer's estimate of what a similar item sells for elsewhere, not a documented or guaranteed price.
Champs Sports (a Foot Locker Inc. brand) will "in certain circumstances" match a competitor's price for an identical item, verified case-by-case through Customer Care, plus a guaranteed 14-day price adjustment on its own price drops.
The Children's Place does not price match competitors, but it will honor a 7-day price adjustment on full-price items that get discounted shortly after purchase.
CVS does not price match its own prices against competitors like Walmart, Walgreens, or Amazon — it competes instead through its own ExtraCare rewards program and discounts.
Dillard's does not offer competitor price matching or price adjustments — there's no published program to match another store's price or refund the difference if an item you bought goes on sale.
Dollar General does not offer price matching — there's no formal policy to match a competitor's advertised price, in-store or online.
Dollar Tree doesn't price match — its entire business model runs on a fixed price point, so there's no per-item pricing to negotiate or match against a competitor's ad in the first place.
DSW's official Price Match Policy covers both DSW.com and outside competitors, but only for in-store purchases in the US, within 7 days, and capped at three items per transaction.
Family Dollar no longer price matches — it discontinued its old "Ad Match Promise" program in early 2025, so bringing in a competitor's printed ad no longer gets you a matched price.
Famous Footwear does not offer a price match or price adjustment policy — there's no published program to match a competitor's price or refund the difference if an item you bought goes on sale.
Finish Line (owned by JD Sports) does not offer competitor price matching or a price adjustment on its own sale prices — its past one-day price adjustment window has also been discontinued.
Foot Locker's price matching is discretionary — it will "in certain circumstances" match a competitor's price for an identical item, but you need to contact Customer Care to check eligibility, and it offers a more reliable 14-day price adjustment on its own price drops.
GameStop doesn't publish a formal price match policy on its website, but has confirmed it will match Amazon, Best Buy, and Target at the time of purchase — and only those three.
GNC's official Price Match Guarantee covers a wide range of competitors — drug stores, grocery stores, superstores, wholesale clubs, Vitamin Shoppe, and more — as long as the product is identical and the lower price isn't from a closeout, damaged, or online-only deal.
Guess does not price match other retailers — it only offers a one-time price adjustment within 14 days if an item you bought at full price drops to a lower price at Guess itself.
Hollister (owned by Abercrombie & Fitch Co.) doesn't match competitor prices, but it will give a 14-day price adjustment on full-price items that drop, and in-store purchases can be matched against Hollister's own website price.
Home Depot still price matches Amazon, Lowe's, Walmart, and Best Buy, but the famous "110%" beat — an extra 10% off the matched price — was eliminated on February 10, 2026, so it's now a straight match with no bonus discount.
JCPenney's Lowest Price Guarantee matches any retailer's advertised price on an identical item — including Amazon-sold items — within 14 days of purchase, available 365 days a year including Black Friday.
Kids Foot Locker (a Foot Locker Inc. brand) will "in certain circumstances" match a competitor's price for an identical item, verified case-by-case through Customer Care, plus a guaranteed 14-day price adjustment on its own price drops.
Kroger has no competitor price-match policy, but its own "Scan Right Guarantee" gives you an item free if it rings up at a higher price than the shelf tag says — a policy that a 2025 investigation found isn't always being honored in practice.
Lowe's "Lowest Price Guarantee" matches Home Depot and other competitors, in-store and online, for identical in-stock items — including factoring in the competitor's shipping cost when comparing totals.
Macy's ended competitor price matching in mid-2025 — before that it accepted Belk, Bloomingdale's, Dillard's, Kohl's, Nordstrom, and others, but today it only offers a 10-day price adjustment if its own price on the identical item drops after your purchase.
Marshalls does not offer a formal price match policy — and its "Compare At" price tags, which have faced deceptive-pricing lawsuits, are described by parent company TJX as a staff estimate rather than a verified competitor price.
Nautica does not price match competitors — its official policy is an in-store-only price adjustment within 7 days of purchase if the item you bought drops in price.
Nike does not price match competitors, but Nike Members get a 14-day price adjustment on Nike.com or app purchases if the identical item drops in price through a Nike promotion or sale, not a coupon.
Office Depot matches a lower price from qualifying competitors at purchase or within 14 days after — and since it owns OfficeMax, matching between the two is essentially automatic.
Old Navy doesn't price match other retailers — its clothing is brand-exclusive, so there's nothing identical to compare — but it will give you a one-time price adjustment if the exact item you bought drops in price within 14 days.
Petco price matches Chewy, PetSmart, Walmart, Target, and Amazon online, and will generally match "any competitor" for in-store purchases — but not membership-only prices or live pets and services.
PetSmart price matches direct-seller competitors across pet specialty, grocery, pharmacy, and big-box retail — but not marketplace sellers like Amazon Marketplace or eBay, and never on live pets or services.
Public Storage has no official, published price match guarantee — its own rate policy is dynamic, market-based pricing with at least 30 days' notice before a rate change — but calling in to ask for a match to a lower advertised rate is a real, often-successful practice.
Publix does not price match, but it does something arguably more useful — it accepts valid competitor coupons, so a discount from another local supermarket can be redeemed at Publix's register instead.
Rent-A-Center offers a Price Match Promise on new agreements — it can adjust the weekly rate, term, or total price to match another rent-to-own competitor's advertised price on the identical item.
Ross does not offer price matching or price adjustments — instead, it uses "Compare At" tags showing a recent full-price selling price elsewhere, since its off-price buying model means there's no consistent regular price to match in the first place.
Safeway discontinued competitor price matching in recent years and does not offer it today — its Just for U loyalty program and digital coupons are what it points shoppers to instead.
Sephora will match the regular retail price of select department-style retailers like Macy's, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdale's within about a week of purchase — but not Amazon, and not any sale or coupon-driven price.
Sleep Number doesn't match competitor prices — it offers a 30-day price adjustment if its own eligible promotion drops the price on the identical mattress, base, bedding, or furniture item you bought.
Staples will match a lower price from a specific list of named competitors — including Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, Walmart, and Office Depot — either at purchase or as a refund of the difference within 14 days.
Stride Rite does not offer price matching, in stores or online — its Little Loyals rewards program, which earns points on every purchase, is the main way to save instead.
Sunglass Hut's corporate policy officially rules out price matching before purchase, but it does offer an "I Just Saw Them Cheaper" refund on the difference within 30 days of buying — and individual stores often price match locally at their own discretion, even though corporate says they shouldn't.
T.J.Maxx does not offer a formal price match policy — and its "Compare At" price tags, which have faced deceptive-pricing lawsuits, are described by the company itself as a staff estimate rather than a verified competitor price.
Target ended competitor price matching on July 28, 2025 — it will no longer match Amazon, Walmart, or any other outside retailer, only its own Target.com, in-store, app, and Target Plus prices.
Ulta does not price match outside competitors like Sephora or Amazon — the only matching it offers is between its own online and in-store prices, within about 14 days.
Verizon doesn't price match phones or accessories against other retailers, but it does offer a Price Protection Guarantee on its own price drops — and a newer AI-driven program that matches your current AT&T or T-Mobile plan discounts if you switch.
Victoria's Secret doesn't match competitor prices, but it does offer a 14-day price adjustment on its own price drops — both for in-store purchases and online orders within 14 days of the ship date.
Walgreens only matches its own Walgreens.com regular price when you shop in-store — it does not match CVS, Target, Walmart, Amazon, or any other competitor.
Walmart doesn't price match competitors at all anymore — the only price match it offers is between its own in-store and Walmart.com prices.
Williams Sonoma has a real Price Match Guarantee covering Amazon (direct sales only), Sur La Table, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, and Crate & Barrel — but no price adjustment at all if the price simply drops later at its own store.
Winn-Dixie does not price match grocery competitors, but it accepts up to five competitor coupons per order from local rivals like Walgreens, CVS, Publix, Dollar General, and Family Dollar — and its Wine & Spirits locations do price match locally.
