Staples has a longstanding policy of closing on both Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, notably bucking the trend of retailers extending hours into the Thanksgiving holiday for early Black Friday sales.
Staples Bucked the Thanksgiving Trend
While many retailers spent the 2010s pushing store openings earlier into Thanksgiving Day itself for early Black Friday deals, Staples took the opposite stance, publicly committing to staying closed on Thanksgiving so employees could have the full day off. That policy has held alongside a standing Christmas Day closure.
