Ace Hardware is a cooperative of locally owned stores, not a corporate chain — so while most locations close on Thanksgiving and Christmas, individual store owners set their own exact hours.
Why Ace Hardware Hours Vary More Than Big-Box Chains
Unlike most national retailers, Ace Hardware is a retailer-owned cooperative — more than 96% of its stores are independently owned by local entrepreneurs rather than the corporate parent. Ace store owners have real autonomy over staffing, inventory, and hours, including on holidays, so "Ace Hardware hours" for a given holiday can genuinely differ from one neighborhood store to the next, even though most follow similar patterns.
